Children are to bring along the following on a daily basis:
- water bottle
- healthy snacks and lunch
- sunblock
- hat
- towel & costume
- comfy walking shoes AND slops
- a complete change of clothing, shoes included
- a warm top
Please note we won’t be swimming but due to the fact that it will be the middle of summer we will be playing water games during game time and splashing in the shallow water at the outlet of the dam and the children will most likely get wet.
At the Holiday Day Camp we focus completely on nature and having good old fashion farm fun!!
Numbers dependent, we intend to divide the children into 3 age groups namely Gr 1-3; Gr 4-5; Gr 6-7 with each group having it’s own facilitator.
Number of children to facilitator is kept to between 18 to 20 children at most. We are also up to 2 adults onside at Taaibosch at any given time during the Holiday Day Camp.
We have a number of Level 3 First Aid trained facilitators who spend their mornings with our Day Campers.
Our daily routine is a constant:
8 – 8:15am Arrival: Please can we ask you to keep strictly to this time. Should you have an emergence, whatsapp 072 238 4467 to make an arrangement.
8:15am – 10am: We have an ice-breaker if needed, morning devotions, rules & expectations, walks, bike ride out ride, skip stones on the dam…..and more.
10 – 10:30am: Break to snack, play, bike ride.
10:30 – 12 noon: We have a packed activity session of crafts, games, water games, highlight etc. This session is full, and fun, and together with the children we have a ball with each days activity being different.
12 noon: We enjoy our lunch and then begin to gather and pack bags getting ready to go home.
12:45 – 1pm Departure: Please can we ask you to keep strictly to this time. Should you have an emergency, whatsapp 072 238 4467 to make an arrangement.
EVERY DAY there will be something fun to do for EVERYONE!
Facilitators
Our TNE (True North Experiences) facilitators are young people who are passionate about relationships, building into the next generation and being outdoors and surrounded by nature and they love adventure. We have 3 to 4 Level 3 First Aid trained and accredited facilitators onsite at any given time.
Our facilitators are trained to adapt to the needs of the children and the circumstances we find ourselves in and they do this with ease.
Please remember that our activities and the running of the part of the program below, depend on a number of factors. To accommodate weather, numbers and the needs of each child and where they are at, it is not always possible to follow our weekly program to the “T”.
Some of the things we do in a day:
- fishing – catch & release (Gr 4 & up)
- bike riding (bikes are welcome daily to ride during break times, BUT there will always be a highlighted bike ride around the farm 2 – 3 times a week)
- making wreaths
- planting
- hiking
- bakkie & trailer ride through the farm
- water fun & splash games (no swimming)
- creating with clay
- a dance in a day: line dancing
- twig boat race
- mini forest villages
- painting with mud
- And more…………..!
All we do is hugely dependent on the number and nature of the children on the day as well as the weather….especially the wind!
It is our passion and purpose to meet each child where they are at, and as a group thoroughly enjoy the day together!
See below some ideas for some of the days of the week so that you can plan as well,
PLEASE NOTE THIS PLANNING IS MERELY A FORECAST AND CAN CHANGE AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON GROUP DYNAMICS, NUMBER OF CHILDREN & THE WEATHER!
Week 4: 8th Feb – 12th Feb
This week is a themed week, it’s……….SUPER HERO week!
Come dressed as your favourite Super Hero and fight the good fight. It’s also going to be hot this next week, so pack plenty of sunscreen and bring along your hat. There will be loads of fun with water games.
Remember, we walk and ride bikes almost daily. The Gr4s & up who can fish, will do so during our bike riding/walking time slots. The days you choose not to bring your bike, you will head out for a walk with the rest of the group.
